Broad cloud storage support
SqlBak supports sending backups to widely used object storage and file storage destinations such as Amazon S3-compatible storage, Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and FTP/SFTP. This flexibility helps teams align backups with existing storage accounts and policies. It can also keep local copies, which is useful for faster restores and for meeting short RTO needs.
Automated scheduling and retention
The service provides scheduled backup jobs with configurable retention rules to reduce manual administration. Uses native database tooling

Restore workflow can be manual
While backups are automated, restores often depend on the underlying database restore process and the availability of the backup files in the chosen storage. Point-in-time recovery, granular object-level restore, and automated recovery orchestration are not the primary focus. Teams may need documented runbooks and testing to ensure reliable recovery under pressure.
Agent and host dependencies
SqlBak typically requires an installed component/service on the database host or accessible environment to run jobs and transfer backups. This introduces operational considerations such as permissions, network egress to cloud storage, and patching/maintenance of the agent. Locked-down environments may require extra configuration for proxies, firewall rules, or service accounts.
