What is vSRX
vSRX is a virtualized next-generation firewall and security gateway that runs as software on x86 servers and in public cloud environments. It is used to enforce network security controls such as stateful firewalling, VPN termination, and threat prevention for data center, cloud, and WAN edge deployments. Capabilities such as advanced security services and certain VPN or threat-prevention functions may require additional licenses beyond base firewalling. This can complicate cost estimation when comparing to alternatives that bundle features differently. It also introduces operational considerations for license management across multiple virtual instances. Operational complexity for small teams
Operating a full-featured virtual firewall platform can require specialized networking and security expertise, particularly for high availability, routing integration, and segmentation design. Teams without Junos experience may face a learning curve in configuration and troubleshooting. Day-2 operations such as upgrades, image management, and policy governance can be non-trivial at scale without standardized automation.
