What is LibreCAD
LibreCAD is an open-source 2D CAD application focused on creating and editing technical drawings in DXF format. This makes it practical for teams that primarily exchange 2D drawings rather than full 3D models.

It can be used offline, which fits environments with restricted connectivity or controlled workstations. No 3D modeling capabilities
LibreCAD is limited to 2D drafting and does not provide 3D part, assembly, or parametric modeling. Teams needing both 2D and 3D typically require additional tools.
DWG support is limited
LibreCAD’s primary format is DXF, and it does not natively support DWG with the same fidelity and workflow depth as tools built around DWG. In DWG-heavy environments, users may need conversion steps, which can introduce formatting differences or missing elements. This can complicate collaboration when drawings are exchanged in DWG as the system of record.
Fewer enterprise features and integrations

Integration options are more limited compared with platforms that provide managed cloud collaboration, web viewing, and administrative controls. Organizations may need to supplement it with separate processes for governance, version control, and support.
