What is DataSunrise Database Security
DataSunrise Database Security is a database security and compliance platform that monitors and controls access to databases and data warehouses. It is used by security, compliance, and database teams to implement database activity monitoring, auditing, sensitive data discovery, and data masking for non-production and controlled access scenarios. The product typically deploys as a proxy/agent-based layer in front of databases or alongside them to enforce policies and capture audit trails across multiple database engines.
Broad database platform coverage
DataSunrise supports a wide range of relational databases and some cloud data platforms, which helps organizations standardize monitoring and masking controls across heterogeneous environments. This is useful where teams would otherwise manage separate tools per database type. It also enables consistent policy enforcement and reporting across multiple database instances.
Integrated discovery and masking
The product combines sensitive data discovery with masking capabilities, reducing the need to stitch together separate tools for identifying and protecting regulated fields. It supports use cases such as creating safer non-production copies and limiting exposure of sensitive values to certain user groups. This integration can simplify compliance workflows that require both identification and protection of sensitive data.
Centralized auditing and monitoring
DataSunrise provides database activity monitoring and audit logging to help track who accessed what data and when. Centralized reporting supports common compliance needs such as evidence collection and investigation workflows. Policy-based controls can be applied consistently to reduce reliance on ad hoc database-native auditing configurations.
Deployment adds architectural complexity
Proxy- or agent-based deployment models can introduce additional components to operate, patch, and monitor. In-line traffic inspection may require careful sizing and high-availability design to avoid becoming a bottleneck. Some environments may need change management and coordination with database and application owners to route traffic appropriately.
Tuning required to reduce noise
Activity monitoring and alerting typically require policy tuning to avoid excessive events and false positives, especially in high-transaction systems. Teams may need to invest time in baselining normal behavior and refining rules for different databases and applications. Without ongoing tuning, audit logs can become large and harder to use for investigations.
Limited scope beyond databases
The product focuses primarily on databases and data platforms rather than broad enterprise content sources (e.g., collaboration suites, endpoints, or SaaS content repositories). Organizations seeking unified discovery and governance across many non-database repositories may need additional tooling. This can increase overall program complexity when requirements extend beyond database-centric controls.
