Pricing model: Pay-as-you-go (font rentals) + optional Foundry Subscriptions (monthly)
Font rentals (primary model):
- Rental price: 10% of the font’s regular retail price per 30-day rental period. Rent-to-own: after renting for twelve 30-day periods (consecutive or non-consecutive) you obtain a permanent license. (Prices are set by each foundry; Fontstand displays VAT where applicable.)
- Free trial for testing: 3-hour free trial per font (no payment details required; limits apply: any given font can be tried once every 30 days; up to 50 trial fonts in any 24-hour period).
- Webfonts: Most rentals include up to 10,000 free pageviews per monthly rental; additional packages of 100,000 monthly pageviews are available at 2% of the regular full retail price (described as 20% of the monthly rental price).
Foundry Subscriptions (optional):
- Model: monthly subscription per participating foundry that unlocks that foundry’s entire available font collection for the subscription period.
- Free trial: a 7-day free trial is provided the first time you subscribe to a particular foundry; valid payment/billing info is required to start the trial.
- Pricing: set by each foundry and varies; Fontstand’s communications indicate recommended pricing tiers start at approximately €10 (or USD) per month, but actual monthly subscription prices vary by foundry and are displayed in-app.
