What is Payara Cloud
Payara Cloud is a managed cloud runtime for deploying and operating Jakarta EE applications built on Payara Server. It targets teams that want to run Java enterprise applications without managing application server infrastructure, while still using standard Jakarta EE APIs and common deployment artifacts (for example, WAR files). The service provides an application-server-centric platform with built-in operational features such as scaling and environment management, rather than a low-level container runtime.
Jakarta EE-native runtime
Payara Cloud focuses on running Jakarta EE applications on Payara Server, which can reduce refactoring compared with moving to more generic Java runtimes. Teams can deploy traditional enterprise application artifacts and rely on standard specifications for portability. This is a differentiator versus platforms centered on generic container runtimes and minimal orchestration primitives.
Managed operations and scaling
The service abstracts application server provisioning, patching, and baseline operational tasks that teams would otherwise implement with self-managed infrastructure.
