What is Arcion
Arcion is a data replication and change data capture (CDC) platform used to move data from operational databases into cloud data warehouses and data lakes for analytics and modernization. It targets data engineering teams that need near-real-time ingestion, ongoing synchronization, and initial bulk loads across heterogeneous sources and targets. The product focuses on log-based CDC and managed connectors to support continuous replication with minimal impact on source systems.
Log-based CDC replication
Arcion centers on change data capture to keep targets synchronized with low-latency updates after an initial load. Log-based approaches typically reduce the need for heavy polling and can lower read load on production databases compared with query-based extraction. This fits use cases such as operational reporting, analytics offloading, and cloud migration where continuous updates matter.
Cloud warehouse/lake targets
The platform is designed to land data into common cloud analytics destinations, supporting patterns like ELT where transformations occur downstream. This aligns with teams standardizing on cloud data platforms and needing reliable ingestion pipelines. It is oriented toward database-to-warehouse replication rather than marketing or ad-network data collection.
Heterogeneous source support

If a required connector is missing or limited, teams may need workarounds or additional tooling. Connector maturity can also affect features like schema evolution handling and error recovery.
CDC operational complexity
CDC implementations can require careful setup and ongoing operations, including permissions to read logs, handling schema changes, and managing backfills and re-syncs. Troubleshooting latency, duplicates, or ordering issues can be non-trivial in distributed systems. This can increase operational overhead compared with simpler batch exports for low-change datasets.
