It typically lacks advanced capabilities expected in larger environments, such as application-aware backups, complex retention governance, and broad workload coverage across data centers and multiple cloud services. Organizations with strict RPO/RTO targets may need more specialized tooling. This can limit suitability for regulated or large-scale deployments.

Recovery is generally focused on file/folder restore rather than orchestrated disaster recovery. Features such as granular recovery for complex business applications, immutable backup repositories, or automated recovery testing may be limited or unavailable depending on plan and platform. For ransomware-resilience programs, buyers often require stronger controls and verification workflows. This can increase operational risk for high-criticality data.

While OpenDrive includes sharing and sync, administrative controls and collaboration governance can be less comprehensive than tools designed primarily for secure enterprise collaboration. Capabilities such as advanced policy management, detailed auditing, and fine-grained external sharing controls may not meet all corporate requirements. Teams with complex permission models may need additional processes or complementary systems. This can add overhead as usage scales.
