What is Domotz
Domotz is a cloud-managed network monitoring and remote management platform focused on discovering, monitoring, and remotely supporting devices on customer networks. It is commonly used by managed service providers (MSPs), IT teams, and AV/IoT integrators to manage distributed sites and mixed-vendor environments. The product emphasizes automated device discovery, remote access/diagnostics, and alerting for network and connected-device health. It typically deploys via a lightweight agent or gateway on the monitored network and is managed through a web console and mobile apps.
Fast device discovery and inventory
Domotz automatically discovers devices on a local network and builds an inventory with device identification and basic attributes. This supports environments with many heterogeneous endpoints such as printers, cameras, AV gear, and IoT devices. The inventory and topology views help technicians quickly understand what is present at a site without manual documentation.
Remote diagnostics and access tools
The platform provides remote troubleshooting capabilities such as reachability checks and common network diagnostics from the monitored site. It also supports remote access patterns that reduce the need for on-site visits for routine triage. This is particularly useful for MSP-style operations managing many small to mid-sized customer locations.
Multi-site monitoring with alerting
Domotz centralizes monitoring across multiple customer sites or branches with configurable alerts and notifications. It supports monitoring of device availability and selected service checks, enabling technicians to respond to outages and degradations. The approach fits operational monitoring needs where the primary goal is network/device uptime rather than deep application performance analysis.
Limited deep APM observability
Domotz focuses on network and device monitoring rather than full-stack application performance monitoring. Organizations needing distributed tracing, code-level diagnostics, or advanced log analytics typically require additional tools. This can create gaps for teams that want a single platform for infrastructure, application, and user-experience observability.
Depends on on-site deployment
Monitoring generally requires an agent/gateway presence within each customer network to perform discovery and local checks. This adds deployment and lifecycle management overhead across many sites. Highly locked-down networks may also require additional coordination for access and firewall rules.
Not a full RMM suite
While it provides remote monitoring and network-focused management, it is not designed to replace endpoint-centric RMM functions such as patch management, software deployment, or full device configuration management for desktops and servers. MSPs may need to integrate it with other tools to cover those workflows. This can increase operational complexity when standardizing on a single toolset.
