What is ClickShare
ClickShare is a wireless presentation and meeting room connectivity system used to share content from laptops and mobile devices to in-room displays and conferencing equipment. It is typically deployed in meeting rooms, huddle spaces, and classrooms to simplify screen sharing and, in some models, to connect to USB room peripherals for video conferencing. The product combines in-room base units with optional USB “Button” dongles and software/apps, and it supports common enterprise security and management requirements. It is often used alongside unified communications room platforms rather than replacing them.
Broad device sharing options
ClickShare supports multiple ways to present, including a dedicated USB Button, desktop apps, and mobile sharing methods depending on the model. This flexibility helps accommodate mixed device environments and guest presenters. It focuses on fast, in-room content sharing without requiring users to join a meeting or configure a room PC.
Enterprise management and security
ClickShare provides centralized administration through management tooling (including cloud-based options) for monitoring, configuration, and updates across deployed units. It includes security features aimed at enterprise deployments, such as access controls and firmware management. These capabilities align with IT needs for standardized meeting room rollouts.
Room peripheral integration (CX line)
ClickShare Conference models are designed to connect user laptops to in-room USB peripherals such as cameras, speakerphones, and soundbars. This supports BYOM (bring-your-own-meeting) scenarios where users run their preferred conferencing service from their own device. It can reduce reliance on a dedicated room computer in smaller spaces.
Not a full room platform
ClickShare primarily addresses wireless content sharing and (in some models) USB peripheral access, but it does not function as a complete room system with native scheduling, meeting control, and platform-specific room UI. Organizations often still need a separate room compute and/or a dedicated room platform for standardized experiences. This can increase overall solution complexity when compared with all-in-one room platforms.
Hardware-centric deployment model
Most deployments require purchasing and installing proprietary base units (and often Buttons), which adds hardware lifecycle and inventory management. Costs and logistics can be higher than software-only approaches, especially across many rooms. Hardware refresh cycles and compatibility planning become part of ongoing operations.
User experience varies by setup
Performance and ease of use can depend on room network conditions, device policies (e.g., USB permissions), and how peripherals are wired and configured. BYOM workflows may require users to select the correct audio/video devices and meeting settings on their laptops. In tightly controlled enterprise endpoints, additional IT configuration may be needed for consistent behavior.
