If the primary requirement is regulated communications/content archiving, a dedicated archive system may be a better fit. Audit depth and reporting can also vary by connector and target storage.
Cloud feature parity depends on APIs
Support for features like object lock/WORM, lifecycle policies, storage-class transitions, and immutability often depends on what the target cloud exposes and how the connector implements it. This can lead to inconsistent behavior across different S3-compatible providers. Teams may need additional validation and testing to ensure retention and immutability requirements are met end-to-end.
